Unsent messages disappearing

I’m having the same issue as a thread I found from 2021 - when you start a message and for some reason unable to finish it before sending (someone calls you for example or another message comes in that you need to read real quick from a different sender) - my message disappears and there’s no way to return to it, but to have to start over. I have an iPhone 15, so it’s not an older unsupported model - but still having this issue. Does someone have any advice? Or is there a fix on the horizon? When writing a longer message this can become really frustrating.
