HAVE I BEEN BLOCKED?? - Is this the only true indication to know when one has been blocked on iPhone??!
This is being posted in hopes of getting some attention for what is clearly a popular question out there and theory needs some additional testing from community members to support my findings or to disprove and explain what I’m finding and misinterpreting as the most accurate indication to finally answer the “Am I blocked on iohone” question.
Okay so I wasn’t able to find a single mention from a internet search looking to find some confirmation of my recent findings to perhaps be the ONLY true indication to confirm whether or not a person has been blocked by another iPhone user.
A few weeks back I came across a post claiming that the only way to know if you’ve been blocked by another iPhone user is to check the contact card in question and if you don’t see the “send read receipts” toggle, you’ve likely been blocked and this was pretty solid as I was able to see this disappearing and reappearing from my own contact. (This was the result of fighting with the woman I was dating just for relevance to the topic, caused by her silent treatment as social media / phone exile blocking is her level of immaturity and obsessive unblocking and then reblocking me multiples times throughout the day and evenings but never texting or calling… maybe to see if any texts would come in from me and then block me again with no- contact made. Blocked- unblocked, blocked - unblocked multiple times daily as mentioned.
I was able to confirm this because of the post I had found regarding the “send read receipts” toggle button not showing when blocked and then reappearing when she would unblock my number. So nothing new there but not 100% of an indication of being blocked or not but the closest of any other findings on the internet as most clear indicator to answer the blocked / not blocked question.
So here we go… later that week I noticed something weird I had never picked up on before and never would have i wasn’t checking our messages chat frequently myself as I love and missed her hoping to hear something from her on any one of these daily unblocking me only to block me at sometime afterwards again without any communications. The silent treatment continued but I had our chat open and saw that the “send read receipts toggle button was present and when I typed a space in the text box, the arrow on the send button was BLUE indications iMessage was active and no longer blocked.
I sent a text hoping she too might be ready to finally talk at least instead of exiled out via ghosting with zero explanation or closure after dating the better part of the year.
Anyways the message sent as iMessage and was BLUE but didn’t deliver and turned green showing “sent as text message”.
i sent another text couple mins later after noticing the blue bubble went to green but that was never blue at all, grew SMS but showing just “Text Message” not “sent as text message” as the first text changed into.
the video icon in the top right of the convo turned into a phone icon, no longer was the “send read receipts” toggle button shown on the contact card and that phone icon in the top right corner that replaced the FaceTime video icon before that, disappeared leaving no icon shown in the top right corner of our text convo.
Pretty easily I concluded that “text
Message” not longer even “sent as text message” like the first text sent said as a blue iMessage initially before changing green.
