Itunes v12.13.4.4 on Windows 10 will not allow access to Movies or TV Shows store pages and comes up blank.

Itunes v12.13.4.4 will not allow me to use Movies or TV Shows stores to purchase content or see anything at all. It was available a few days ago and now its acting like it never existed. I knew about the potential for iTunes on Windows 10 to eventually change, I just didn't expect it would be shut off without a small warning or explanation. I have spent a considerable amount of money and time building up a library where I am having a real difficulty finding TV Show content through my iPhone or MacBook Pro using your new apps. Why is it so restrictive and won't the app show new TV shows nor daily released episodic content. Its like you are making it so difficult to push us to purchasing content another way. It's very frustrating. Concerned I will have to keep my own excel spreadsheet of all of my TV Show Series, Seasons and Episodes just so I can rest assured I know what's available in my library of over 24,000 episodes.

So there is more to this after some research. So in Itunes v12.13.4.4 there is a caveat that if you stay with iTunes on your PC and don’t install any of the items to replace it then you could still use iTunes to purchase movies, tv shows and music. So why did this happen to me if I didn’t install the three new replacements?

Well, I acquired a MacBook Pro and when I logged into it and into Apple TV, Apple Music and such that’s what triggered it. That would be an important thing to state as a precaution that you will lose iTunes on your old machine.

Doesn’t matter which machine, Mac or PC, you install and login into the new apps then you get cut off from iTunes v12.13.4.4 on the computer it’s installed on and will only allow access to your existing library, unwatched content and able to purchase music.

I get that Apple TV is the new place to watch Movies and TV Show. Unfortunately it has none of the same functionality as the previous. I cannot find new TV show series or seasons unless it’s by search or it’s a featured curated item. I also cannot see what new episodes come out each day. I cannot see my library content by series or by episode. A customer of iTunes lost a lot when it was switched over to the new Apps. I am fine with the switch but at least make it useable to find and buy content.

Now what I have to do going forward if I am to continue to purchase TV series content is keep my own spreadsheet of what content I have in my Library and what I need to get in the future. Then I have to search the web to find out new TV shows other than the mainstream ones and track them. The other reason I need to track this information is that there is no filtering in the an Apple TV app. When you have the significant level of TV episodes that I have your iPhone app will crash repeatedly trying to find out what you need.

Being a Sr Software QA Engineer myself I understand that I am an outlier edge case but it’s still annoying when your limits weren’t their limits in testing a library catalog for errors when trying to access 5k, 10k, 15k and all the way up to 50k tv episodes as part of years of purchased content.

Anyway, my hope is that some of these extra tweaks and testing are done to see what I see from my interactions using the apps and trying to sort and filter to find the right content.

Thanks and have a nice weekend y’all.

Well,

Let me tell you a thing. If I go back to my blank iTunes movies or TV and I select the store at the top three times my store to purchase comes back. So I am able to purchase movies and tv series again on my iTunes store that I thought was gone.

So, when the Window 10 machine no longer works with iTunes then I assume that it will be shut off and have everyone go to Apple TV at that time. I just believe that most companies follow the motto, Don't **** off the money! Meaning do whatever is necessary to keep the money flowing. They may discourage use and funnel the masses to one way or the other but taking out a revenue stream is never an easy or correct path unless there isn't any revenue coming in. So though Apple TV is now for Movies and TV shows and iTunes is still for music I don't really see that changing for Apple until they make a new app for the iTunes Music to sell through. Then I see the transition happening from Apple iTunes Music to just Apple Music. I am hopeful this is the case and will continue purchasing content going forward but will keep better track of the content myself so when there isn't an easy way to see my library at least i can search it and play it that way.

Have a nice weekend y'all.
