SIM not supported in new iPhone
Tried my sim in my new phone and it said it was not supported

Then your new phone is locked to a carrier, and the SIM you have is not for that carrier. Where did you get this phone? iPhones sold directly by Apple are not locked to carriers. In the US phones sold by other retailers ARE carrier locked.
