Full Size Apple Wired USB Keyboards Fail with USB-C Adapter

Hello Apple Community. I keep having a problem with a lot of wired USB Apple Keyboards (Model A1243) with USB-A to USB-C adapters (see specific link below) plugged into M1 iMacs. They keep failing and I can't figure out why. I will try different adapters, plug the keyboard into another USB-C port, try on other computers.

I can't figure out why some of the computers in a computer lab have this issue with the keyboards and others don't, but they keep failing progressively.

Any ideas.
