Does anyone else have a problem with their iMac crashing while processing large files like the Insta 360 4 files or some larger 4k files on FCPX?

Just did a full re format of the mac, installing latest ios with no other apps installed yet except Insta 360 studio and still crashes while processing the 360 footage.
My wife's mac was running sluggish and the techs said it was the hard drive. She installed the ios onto an external drive and it runs fine now. Wonder whether mine has a hard ware issue.
Is the application crossing out the system? If the system it is quite possibly a hardware problem.
