HomePod and Apple Account

Someone else’s HomePod was connected to my icloud account. I’m wondering how could this happen?

Ok, so it’s your HomePod but not your music?

You need to change your settings on who you allow to play to your HomePod. You might want to use only people sharing this home, or anyone on the same network if you want your guests to be able to use it.

  1. Go to the Home app  on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap , then tap Home Settings.
  3. Note: If you have more than one home, settings are shown for your current home (based on your location). To edit a different home, tap Homes, then tap the home you want to edit.
  4. Tap Speakers & TV, then choose one of the following options:
    • Everyone: Gives access to everyone nearby.
    • Anyone On the Same Network: Gives access to those connected to your Wi-Fi network.
    • Only People Sharing This Home: Gives access to those you’ve invited to share your home (in the Home app) and who are connected to your Wi-Fi network.

The setting you choose also controls who can add to the Playing Next queue for HomePod in the Music app and Podcasts app, and who can hand off audio to HomePod. If you have more than one HomePod, the option you choose applies to all of them.

Never shared my login credentials and I live alone and no one else’s info is or should be on any of my accounts or anything.

It showed my HomePod on the home app, but it was playing somebody else’s Apple one subscription and music.

I did not even have the app installed on my phone (Apple Music) and I was not playing this music.

Apple support said if someone else was on my network, then this is how it could have happened. Nobody else should be on my network.

In the end, Apple just told me to bring in the HomePod and exchange it for a new one.
