Photos library functionality between Sonoma and Sequoia??

Hi! I wonder if it really is so that a Photos library copied from MBP '23 with Sequoia 15.0.1 to iMac 2019 27" with Sonoma 14.7 isn't no more functional??? As to now, there was a stupid unfunctionality already: When I copied my Photos library from MBP to iMac (with Sonoma on both), I needed to repair the library on iMac every time; otherwise the latest pictures added to MBP's Photos library were not visible. To me, even this is near to incomprehensible: How can it be that a Photos library copied to one Mac to another is not working??? Anyway, I would be grateful if somebody would give me some advice if I can do anything to get the Photos library on iMac working again. Maybe updating the MacOS on iMac would help but it's possible that the old one is too tired to run the new OS as well as it does now with Sonoma. Comments?

Photos and before that iPhoto libraries were never backward compatible.

To have a library that is compatible with two Macs both must be running the SAME SYSTEM!

If you want to run the library on both machines you can utilize iCloud library so that both can run their libraries and have the same photos in both. Set up and use iCloud Photos

When I copied my Photos library from MBP to iMac (with Sonoma on both), I needed to repair the library on iMac every time; otherwise the latest pictures added to MBP's Photos library were not visible.

In copying the library from one Mac to another some links and permissions may have been broken/changed and had to be relinked via the repair process.

OK - not that a nice policy concerning personal memories back to more than 30 years 8-/ .... I would guess that a lot of more people in a situation like mine wouldn't find a way to resolve it. Great!

A natural answer to my situation would be that there were a conversion of the database. Perhaps that's not so important than selling cloud services... which are such unnecessary.
