news app on ipad keeps switching to English (UK)

No matter how often I reset the News language option in System Settings/General/Apps back to the default of English US, the app keeps reverting to English (UK). I know when this happens as the listing for Favorites in the side bar becomes Favourites. Is fine initially but always reverts after I quit and then return later.
