MacBook Pro M3 does not recognise USB drives

My MacBook Pro M3 does not recognise USB drives, neither USB sticks nor external hard disks (formatted exFAT). Since I have bought the MacBook it did never work, not with macOS Sonoma and not with macOS Sequoia. The problem has been reported by other users, see for example : https://www.mactechnews.de/news/article/USB-Probleme-nach-macOS-Sequoia-Update-185794.html. There seems to be no fix so far.

How can I reach the official Apple Support to report the problem?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.1

the first hurdle: "drive is not recognized' appears to be solved. the Drive is seen in that Hardware display, as illustrated by your report.

Now launch Disk Utility and look for the drive. You will likely have to change settings using the tiny "View' menu to "Show all devices"

as the manufacturer states, this drive is compatible with Windows 10+

"Reformatting may be required for other operating systems"
