Emoji Keyboard size is large after updating to iOS 18.1

This is a user to user only forum, which no one here works for Apple. Regardless of who made the decision, the decision was most assuredly made after years of people, LIKE ME, who complained the Emoji Keyboard was too small.

What is going on Apple? This is the most terrible update I have ever seen since I started using iPhone’s since nr 4. Huge emoticons… what is the reason behind this? Please create a button so we can have the option to make the emoticons bigger or smaller, separately from the size of letters on the keyboard.

That was the common complaint before iOS 18, which is why Apple made them bigger. Are you using iOS 18 or an earlier version.

This change has clearly been an issue for a number of releases and nothing has been done. I must’ve missed 18.1 and 18.2 updates and my phone is just updated to 18.3 and the emoji keyboard is still excessively large as well as Memojis are now merged in on the recent view and I can’t get rid of it. This needs to be fixed!! It’s not user-friendly and it’s very annoying if I could roll back to my previous version, I would. Please advise when this is going to be updated!!!

Fix it apple... The emojis are massive and I don’t like the scroll bar… why does the space bar look like that and why are my stickers in my recent emoji thing? Keep that separate. You coulda left the keyboard alone. We were doing just fine. Been holding off the iOS 18.3.1 update and finally caved in. Wish I never updated my phone.

or even better, thinking “you’re” just using a typical, normal, ie average-sized emoji in an email NOT A STICKER (bc you’re NOT in the STICKER section of the keyboard) yet the emojis randomly show up 100000x too big, so you delete these humongous emoji/stickers, right? WRONG! bc little did “you” know (dumb, silly me) that four of the obnoxious 100000x zoomed-in, enlarged (supposedly deleted) stickers were sent at the end of the email! All i can say is wow … this makes me appear loonier than i already am bc seriously, what 50-something-year-old (weirdo) would send humongous emojis in an email ?? lol

don’t get me started on apple giving zero ___ regarding my airpods no longer announcing calls since the ios18 update FOUR MONTHS AGO!!

Oh, the drama! I guess this 50+ weirdo, sends them. Imagine that??!! And this 50+ weirdo even used the feedback link to request larger emoji's, which many many many have over the years. I'll stay weird, thank you very much!

To your comment about announcing calls, did you open the Settings App, scan all the way down to the bottom of the page and tap Apps. Then tap Phone and make sure Announce Calls is checked for Headphones?

Similarly here I’ve been wondering on ways to do that. Unfortunately, I think there isn’t a way to edit or customize the emoji keyboard. Maybe it will be fixed or settled in the next update.

Yes, it’s awful. Developers, please give people an option to choose the emoji keyboard size. The large one is SO bad.

I’m old and my near vision gets worse all the time, but even I can’t stand the Costco size emojis
