Where did my desktop widgets go? They are gone.

My desktop widgets are no longer on my desktop but the feature is still enabled in settings. They appear to vanish after the machine goes to sleep or displays a screensaver. I'm only running Apple-produced widgets on Sequoia 15.1 and have had this issue for several versions of MacOS. They have yet to reappear when I restart the machine. Does anyone know how to bring them back? Updating to 15.1 did not address it. Anyone have any suggestions for making them persist?

Make some changes to your settings and compare your results,

then come back to your preferred settings and test.

I am running into the same thing on my Mom's Mac Studio. The system has an Apple Studio Display as the main monitor and then a secondary LG.

I set her up with like 50 widgets for all of the things she uses. I come back the next day the screen is clear. Nothing there.

I contacted apple support and they had no clue. This is a REAL problem and it is frustrating that Apple doesnt do anything to help.

I tried various things. I went from an HDMI cable to a USBC cable. That made no difference. It does feel like it has to do with the system going to sleep and then waking up and not knowing the secondary monitor is the same monitor and thus has no idea where to put the widgets. That is a guess.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KIND OF IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!!! THIS IS SUPER FRUSTRATING!!!!

Interesting that yours come back and mine don't. It's frustrating because they are genuinely useful... when it works. I think mine has something to do with a bug in the graphics driver. Since updating to 15.1, my displays flicker on and off if I switch between displaying my Mac Studio and my MacBook Pro on one of my monitors. As if my Mac Studio can't properly detect the display. The last time my widgets vanished, it was after such an event. So yeah, Apple needs to fix this.
