Connecting 2024 Mac Mini to 2017 iMac

Will my 2017 iMac, with 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel core i7, be compatible with the new Mac Mini? What will I need to connect?

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.7

Nope' that will not work, because those newer Mac's can not use Target Display Mode.

If you get a new Mac mini, you will also need an external display.

If you mean to use as a monitor that's not supported. There are ways to do so but are nothing like using an actual monitor.
