iPad 8th Gen - printing problem with air-print enabled HP Envy 5530

My HP Envy 5530 printer is not printing from my iPad 8th Gen; the printer is the only printer found by the iPad when using the print centre and both are on the same Wi-Fi network. The iPad shows “waiting” but the job is not being received by the printer.

I’d like to try & delete the printer from the iPad, re-start both the iPad & printer and then have the iPad find the printer wirelessly again but the printer does not show in Settings, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Other Devices - I can use my iPhone 15 and the printer responds but there is something stopping the iPad & the printer working. Any ideas please?

Many thanks in anticipation 🤞

AirPrint is a driverless/zero-configuration technology.

While a properly configured AirPrint printer will be seen within an App's print dialogue, the printer won't be found in your iPad's settings. Instead, an AirPrint printer's settings are configured at the printer itself - from where the printers is joined to your WiFi network. When properly set-up, the printer is detected by Apple devices as available to accept print jobs.

Do you have any security Apps (such as Norton) or VPN installed on your iPad? If so, these may interfere with AirPrint/AirPlay or other Apple services. If present, it may be necessary to temporarily remove such Apps from your iPad.

If you continue to have difficulties, check to see if your iPad is using the new WiFi Private Address feature. This feature is intended to provide additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks.

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the “i” icon - Private Address

The Private Address feature is largely unnecessary for your home WiFi network; if enabled, Private Addressing can interfere with anticipated operation of other devices, such as AirPrint/Airplay. In such circumstances, you may need to disable this feature - and can be enabled or disabled for each individual network.

Use private Wi-Fi addresses in iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7 - Apple Support
