iPhone 16 Pro Max can't find new bluetooth devices for pairing

I am trying to connect a new device with Bluetooth but the searching spinning wheel keeps moving. I tried everything starting from turning off/on the blue tooth, turning the airplane mode on/off, hard reset and resetting the network.

What else I can do at this point? It’s an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

have you tried to put the bluetooth device you wish to find into pairing / discovery mode? this is required the first time one wish to use bluetooth devices with a new device
