Why won't my DRM Songs play on Home Sharing?

Hello,

Songs I bought on iTunes years ago under DRM rules will not play through home sharing on my iPhone or iPad, but will play over my apple TVs. Using my iPhone or iPad, I receive the dreaded "content not authorized" message.

All devices are updated to latest software, all devices are using same apple ID. I have been through all the home sharing support pages on this site, so I am curious if anyone else has run into this issue and if so has a solution?

I am not subscribed to iTunes Match or Apple Music service.
