Mac Mini M1 does not boot after installing mac os sequoia

Mac Mini does boot after disconnecting external ssd. When done, I reconnect the drive and everything works normally. Issue shows up every time I switch off my mac.

Has macOS Sequoia 15.1 been installed onto the External SSD Drive ?

Have you checked Start Up Disk in System Setting ?

What Disk has been set as the Startup Disk ?

Internal Drive or External Drive ?

It would seem from your description - the External Drive has been chosen as Startup Disk

If that is what you Do Not Want, change it back to Internal Drive

I suppose You will agree that dis-attaching and reconnecting an external drive every single time I switch my Mac on can be rather disappointing, if You consider that all of my files are stored in my super fast SanDisk external drive. Moreover, by doing so the Mac's port will be quickly worn. I do not think the SanDisk being totally faultless, because a WD 4 Tb backup drive is also attached from the start without causing any trouble.

Thank You for your kind answer. MacOs Sequoia has been installed onto internal Macintosh HD. I push the button, desktop background appears, pw in requested, I digit it, progress bar appears but progression does not begin.

As I disconnect the external 2 Tb drive, everything runs smoothly, so I can reconnect my 2 Tb drive and my machine works normally. MacOs Monterey never gave problem with this very SSD.

Thanks for your patience.

Do I understand correctly ?

Please do correct me I am wrong !

You have moved your Home Folder ( User Account Folder/ from the Internal Drive and move it to the External Drive ?

Why ?

Is that because the Internal Drive is Too Small for your Needs ?

I agree that having a Large Enough Internal Drive to meet my present needs.

Planning far enough in advance to future proof my expected needs is far more preferred than having to run the the Home Folder from an External Drive be is fast SSD or not

I guess my replies are not in sync with yours. Anyway, not too bad. In few word: I installed macOs Sequoia in the 1 Tb internal drive as well as every user folder and every application. All my video and photo files are stored onto my external drive. Onto the same drive are stored Motion and FCP Libraries and Projects as also Adobe Pr, Ae projects and so on. I do this because this way I can easily use my files on different machines in different locations. This workflow has suited my needs for over 20 years with every macOS, except for Sequoia with the SanDisk 2 Tb drive. With external WD drives connected, my Mac Mini boots normally.

Sorry for bothering you.

Thanks
