Is In app purchase mandatory for an iOS app?

Hey,

We are developing an educational app for iOS. We allow users to access certain certain content for free. To access additional content, the user needs to purchase a monthly, quarterly or annual subscription. We have implemented the payment only in Web.

Is it mandatory to include the payment in the iOS app also or is it enough if we provide an explanation while submitting the app for review?

We referred the guidelines on AppStore but could not get a clear picture.

Can someone please guide on this? Thanks a ton.

Read through the business section (section 3) for details: App Review Guidelines - Apple Developer

Section 3.1.3 might also be related, but you’ve not provided enough detail on how your pricing works.

Apple will prefer you to use the in-app path, of course.
