iPad won’t connect to printer

Like some of the others in this thread, I have tried every fix suggested here, with no positive results. My iPad Air will simply not recognize my Canon printer. I’ve been using this combination successfully for at least 3 years, until the latest iOS version was installed. I can connect with my iPhone, which is running 17.7.1, but not my iPad Air, which is running the same version. Very perplexing. Please put the Support back into the Apple Support Community. Thank you

iPad Air, iPadOS 17

If you've tried everything, then there is nothing further to discuss here, and you will want to replace the printer.

But if you want to discuss it here, please post the Canon printer model.

Might also help to mention what you've tried too, as otherwise some suggestions will repeat.

Restarting the Wi-Fi router, resetting the printer, resetting the printer network settings, printer firmware update, etc.

If there are any add-on VPN apps on the iPad Air, remove all of those, restart the iPad Air, and try again.

I won’t be replacing my printer at this time. As mentioned, it still connects to my iphone. Further, it still connects to my laptop and PC. It is only my iPad that does not connect. The problem, like some of the others on this thread, began after the update to version 17.7.1. I have shut down and restarted in the prescribed method, my modem, router, and extender. I have updated the canon AirPlay app on iPad and updated the printer firmware. I have also removed all add on VPNs. I have restarted my iPad. Still no connection.

No “MF 240” shows at Canon. Closest matches include ImageCLASS MF242DW, imageCLASS MF244DW, and imageCLASS MF3240. Probably not the MF3240 though, as that appears to lack AirPrint.

How is the printer connected to the network? Wired, or Wi-Fi?

Is the iPad in the same area as the iPhone or other working network clients when the connection fails? Wi-Fi extenders can sometimes work, and sometimes not.

iPad needs no added apps to print using AirPrint, so I am unsure what that “Canon AirPrint” app is. Remove the app, restart the iPad, and try printing again using (just) AirPrint.

VPNs inherently alter IP routing. Given multiple VPNs here, any WARP or other routing-related add-on apps, or any add-on security apps installed here?

Canon TR4700 series... my iPad (iOS Version 18.1) indicates it can find the wireless printer, but since the recent upgrade, it won't print. My iPhone with different iOS still prints.

Any VPNs?

Tried performing the firmware update on this Canon PIXMA TR4720 / TR4722 / TR4750i / TR4751i / TR4700 series, and restarting both the printer and the Wi-Fi router? (I’d check for firmware updates on the Wi-Fi router, too.)

For the firmware update procedure, see page 178:
