I downloaded my private collection of music to iTunes when I purchased an iPod 40 GB. Now we have lossless audio, and i have worrisome questions. But only ask one now.
If I turn off lossless audio, does anything happen to my private collection?

The setting for lossless audio applies to artist-supplied tracks in Apple’s catalog, as far as available in that format.
Your ‘ripped’ tracks on local disks or uploaded to your personal iCloud (iTunes Match or Apple Music), are not affected.
