why can't siri search my Text Messages for a particular word, and display them to me

I asked Siri to show me all my text messages with the word “Veterans” and the reply was always: “You have no new messages”. I am using the new iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18.1, and figured that would be an easy request for AI, but no matter how I phrased it, Siri couldn’t display any of my “Old” messages, even while in the app, or within a specific group of users on the app. If AI can support a Siri search of photos, why not texts?
