Scanning multiple photos into Photos app on Mac

I'm not sure what's best, but I can tell you what I do.

For pictures that are in old albums, maybe 3x4 inches each, I may scan the page or remove the pictures. Old pictures sometimes have information written on the back, so I try to make sure they don't if I decide to not remove them. They are often hard to get out and harder to get back in.

I use a flat bed scanner. I usually scan several pictures at a time, like an album page. I may scan the pictures; then turn them over and scan the backs. I usually use the app Image Capture to operate the scanner. For smaller pictures I use a higher resolution, as much as 1200 dpi, I think, for little ones. But there's not much point in going too high-- prints often are pretty low resolution, themselves.

I use the app GraphicConverter ($40)  to separate the pictures. There are apps out there that will automatically separate the pictures, but I have no experience with them, and I've used GC forever (in Mac years.) It seems like I tried some separating apps once and was unimpressed, but that would have been a while ago. I use GC to roughly separate and straighten the pictures. So I end up with "Page" files and "Separate" files.

I use Photos for further editing, cropping, and annotation.
