Anyone had power button falling off their Apple TV remote?

This happened today after just over 18 months since purchase. The remote has been in a case from day one and no scratch, never dropped on anything hard.

Talked to Apple Support and was quoted £66+ for a replacement because it's out of warranty and an accidental damage (I think it's regarded accidental damage because that button should just not fall off with normal use???)

Talked to a second person from Apple Support, and was told this was the first case that she heard of after working at Apple Support for five years.

I saw others on reddit with the same issue. What's more frustrating is that a new remote only costs £59 from Amazon right now.
