You should have installed a good quality screen protector on the phone when you purchased it. Glass can be scratched. There is no quality issue with the screen at all. Cosmetic damage is not covered by iPhone warranty, so put a screen protector on your phone to minimize the scratch you have to prevent future scratches going forward.
