Improving HomePod 1st Edition Cinema Sound

Whats recommended to add to HomePod first edition to create a good cinema sound - short of buying a pair of HomePod 2nd editions ?

very Kind of you to reply

We bought two 2nd Ed HomePods for our tv using an Apple TV and we are very happy -

we have one extra 1st edition HomePod in another room - where we have a new projector

despite trying to airplay movies from a phone to that airplay projector and sound to the HomePod I am doing something wrong - can’t get that to work;

The image changes to blank.

so to use the old HomePod we will get a new Apple TV 4K unless there is a workaround ?

but for buying our third Apple TV we would buy new HomePods / trying to save some money / will minis be a good addition? Or is there another speaker that will supplement?

are we making this complicated ?

As for alternatives, there must be some options for audio out on your AirPlay Projector. You would not be able to use HomePods, but there may be another speaker solution for you to get the audio to play from the Projector after you AirPlay the movie to it. Refer to your Projector to see what those options are, then compare the cost. If you have no use for the additional feature of the ATV then that may be a cost effective solution.

In order to use the single HomePod or for better audio quality with a pair of Home Pod Minis, you would need another ATV.
