Can't boot from External drive

My MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2019

Processor 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core

macOS Sequoia 15.1

I want to create an external boot disk that I can boot form, clean install all my apps etc, erase the MacBook Disk and migrate the new clean system back....

I have created a bootable disk with macOS Sequoia 15.1, but when I try to boot from the external disk I get

How do I get around this?

I don't know if you configured your Mac to allow it.

If you're using a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip, use Startup Security Utility to allow your Mac to start up (boot) from external or removable media. Learn how to use Startup Security Utility.

Haha. Ok. Be patient. Despite having been an Apple user since 1984, I am now older and struggling to keep up with changes.

It's an Intel Core processor. Is it a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip?

Dunno.

Your Mac has the T2 security chip. You will need to follow the instructions in the link provided earlier to enable booting from an external drive.

This is getting a bit beyond my knowledge. It looks like you are asked to enter the disk encryption password. Normally, this should be your user password but I can’t be sure (I don’t have a T2 equipped Mac to test.)
