Text in text boxes not staying put

[FYI - I'm running Apple Pages version 14.1 (7040.0.73), on a MacBook Pro running MacOS Sonoma v14.5.]

I've got a text box, which contains the text "DATE". Preferred location for the text is left-justified. It looks fine, until I drag the text box to the left. While I drag the box, the text comes along, but when I've finished that, the text pops back to the right. I've attached some screen clips.

Example 01: The way this area of the doc looks before I do anything. I'd like to close up the gap between the word SUNDAY and the word DATE.

Example 02: I've selected the DATE text box and dragged it a little closer to the SUNDAY text box. This looks pretty good to me. At this point I've still got my finger on my MacBook Pro's mouse pad.

Example 03: And here's what it looks like after I take my hand off the mouse pad. The text box outline is in the new position, but the text (DATE) has jumped back to it's previous position.

What the heck is going on here? It doesn't happen if I do this on the area beyond the edges of the document. I'd be grateful for any thoughts on what might be causing this.

A couple of points.

  1. Visit the Mac App Store, click on the Pages entry and select Update. Sonoma supports Pages v14.2.
  2. Select all of your Text boxes and then in the Arrange panel, set Text Wrap to None. This allows you to move Text boxes over one another without displacement of the preceding text box. This should also prevent the appearance of text shifting position.
