FCPX title/opener help to find

Hi I made a video in 2018

I have no access to the project.

I have the title I want to find which I don't think is on fcpx anymore.

Can anyone help me locate this title please?

Thanks so much!!!

Okay - I converted the old Motion 4 template to make FCP Title templates for you here:

https://fcpxtemplates.com/sdm_downloads/pulse-for-fcpx/

The published parameters will let you re-colorize the design and you can color the text with one color - or if you want to customize text colors, turn off the Text Color Mix (down to 0%) and use the Text Inspector to set the Face Colors. For two of the templates that have a background, you can also colorize the Background and set their Opacities if you want to overlay the titles on the storyline content.

You will need to install these in:

/Users/<your "home" folder>/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/<use "Pulse" as a category>/

For <use "Pulse" as a category> - you will need to create that folder inside the Titles folder.

Move the three folders: Pulse - Open, Pulse - Menu and Pulse - Lower Third into the Pulse folder you created.

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME you've manually installed third party effects and you DON'T have a Motion Templates folder, you will need to create it. Inside Movies, add a New Folder and Name it: Motion Templates.localized

Note: once you type enter, the ".localized" extension is most likely to disappear!! Do NOT try to add it again!!! [You can check the name by right clicking the folder and selecting Get Info to check the folder's actual name.]

Then, inside Motion Templates, add a New Folder and name it: Titles.localized

New folders (categories) created inside Titles do not need to have the .localized extension!

That Motion *Project* if from Motion 4 and it's called "Pulse". If you have Motion 5, you can go to File > Open from project browser and search (at the bottom of the dialog) for "pulse" and you should see 3 projects - an "opener", a "lower third" and a basic title (although these compositions were not actually "Titles" in Motion 4.)

Once you open the projects in Motion 5, you can go to File > Convert Project To and change them to Titles for Final Cut Pro. Name them Pulse - Opener, etc. or use the Theme option to apply the kinds of Titles they are.

I have answered my own question . . . partially.

Pulse is hidden away in the Content/Template Media folder but it is a mere shadow of what I think I remember. There is merely one .mov file.

I seem to remember something more complex like the Splash-Ink Splats (FCP Titles) where the patten not only developed but spread downwards etc. I'm sure it used to be more complex.

It's been a lot of years now, but I seem to remember a short period of time when you could "Download Additional Content" and there was a selection of Motion 4 Compositions available (like Skyline and Vine) adapted to Final Cut Pro. I thought Splash, Pulse, Atmospheric, Mondrian and a few others were part of it.

Did you check /Movies/Motion Templates/Compositions/ ?

In FCP, in the Titles inspector: Bumper/Opener, I find the Splash - Ink Splats title. When I right click on it in, there is no Reveal in Finder option, only Open a Copy in Motion — this usually means the title is installed inside the FCP app itself.

If you don't find it, and if you still have a copy of Motion 4, you can find just about all of the templates that came with the app inside the app in:

Contents/Resources/Templates/Compositions/

Also check

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Templates

(You might want to check this location first... I see Splash in there.)

Obviously, some of these locations will only available if you had Moton 4/Final Cut Studio installed at some point in the past.

However, you would definitely want the Final Cut Pro version if you have it as it already has published parameters:

Happy hunting! ;)
