Software updates, iOS upgrade notification, and iCloud out of space notifications

How do I get rid of these annoying issues as described in the title above? Especially the constant prodding to purchase more cloud space which I do not care for? Even the iOS upgrade notification really needs to go away. Any way(s) to get around this?

They may all be related to a phyical lack of space on your phone. Doing an update wirelessly, or "over-the-air," requires more free physical storage space on the phone (not in the Cloud) than the size of the update.

Please do Settings > General > iPhone Storage to get this:

Mine shows just under 31GB free space. How much does yours show?

The iOS 18.1 update is about 8GB; you may need up to twice that in free space to install "over-the-air." Often the space limitaiton can be overcome by doing a manual install. See the two links in the first seciton of this Apple article:

⚠️ NOTE: The article needs an correction. iTunes for Windows has recently been replaced by Microsoft's Apple Devices app.

Are you backing your iPhone up to iCloud? If you are and you are out of space in the cloud, you'll see these notifications until you purchase more space. If you don't want to backup your data, that's entirely up to you, but if you lose your phone and you ever want to restore your data to a new phone, without a completely backup, you'll lose your data. If you forget or get locked out of your iPhone, you'll have to erase the phone and without a full backup, you'll lose all your data. You can upgrade to 50GB of iCloud storage for a mere $1/month. Isn't $12 a year worth making sure you don't ever lose your data? Your choice of course.

If you still want to turn off iCloud backup, go to Settings app > Tap your name at the top > Tap iCloud and turn off iCloud backup

IPhone storage shows 53 gb out of 128gb. So There is no issues on that front.

In the Cloud, I only have "passwords" and "contacts" backed up - that's a whopping 12.3mb. My photos I transfer to the MacBook Pro and then to an external HD. Apparently what it is doing is sensing all the other "stuff" on my phone and telling me I don't have enough space to back up the device. Even though a vast majority of backups are turned off (radio buttons and all), when I select "backup this phone" it sys it's unable to back up the phone. I'm fairly certain that the phone is being polled for it's complete content regardless of what I selected not to back up. Hence, the "hey, you need to buy more space" message. I just want to get rid of this constant, every other day reminder that I need to purchase more space. It's annoying and it's getting old.

Also the "Software Update" notice is a Pain. I'd love to get rid of that. I'm happy (somewhat) with 18.0.1. I do not want to upgrade, nor need, "Apple Intelligence". Wish I could stop that reminder also.
