Macbook Air 2017 still very hot after new battery + SMC reset

I have a 2017 Macbook Air which I have fitted with a brand new battery (as it was completely dead), and put a fresh install of Monterey on. Also reset the SMC.

Before battery replacement, the fans came very quickly when doing something, and it would get very hot between the keyboard and hinge.

I was hoping the new batttery + fresh install would fix these issues. The fans are no longer on all the time, however it's still very hot, and the battery seems to be draining pretty quickly for a brand new one (which I calibrated according to the instructions).

I have run an Entrecheck report (attached), no major issues found and minor issues seem unrelated. I'm so stumped...

If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd be really grateful!

Keen to make sure my hardware is all working ok, as I'm planning to run a linux on the machine now that Monterey has lost support.

Thanks in advance :)
