multitasking in ios 18 on iphone 12 Pro

I can't figure out how to multitask (go back to whatever app I was previously using) on my iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 18). On my previous phone with a home button, pressing the home button twice would take me back to the last thing I was working on before the screen I am currently on. How do I do that in iOS 18?

SWIPE up from the Bottom of the Screen HALF-WAY. This will reveal the App Switcher and you can then choose the App from the previously opened apps.
