Apple Pencil not recognized on iPad 10

Both are new so this is first time use. The iPad's Bluetooth just spins and doesn't recognize the charged Apple Pencil. What can I do to fix it? Thanks.

Which exact model is your Apple Pencil? The iPad 10th generation would require the Apple Pencil (USB-C). Is that what you have?

Ok, give the following a try: If you can't pair Apple Pencil with your iPad - Apple Support

If that still doesn't help, I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly. You can do so simply by selecting the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
