How to have a master format for Date in Excel in Macbook Pro

I am having problem with excel date format as when I highlight the cell to the format I wanted, but when I input in new cell, it did not follow the format I wanted. I wish to have a master format for date in all my excel files. Appreciate if members could help

My advice is to let it be and apply your date format(s) as needed in your Excel workbooks. Note that you *can* apply a date format to a range of cells, not just one cell at a time.

But if you "must" change the default, you have to do it in system settings and it will apply to your entire system, not just Excel. To change it:

Close Excel
Go to Settings > General > Language & Region > Date Format and select the format you want.
Reopen Excel

Note two things:

It does not change any existing date formats that you previously applied in your worksheets
Date formats you apply in an Excel worksheet override the default format
