Connecting iPhone to Windows PC

I have been using iTunes on my Windows 10 laptop for quite some time, since iPhone 4S. till recently, with iPhone 13. I cannot connect the iPhone 13 for some time now. I think this has happened after updating iTunes to the latest version, 14.13.4.4. The drivers appear to be messed up and are not working anymore. I tried several suggestions, updating drivers through device manager. I cannot see iPhone in "portable devices" anymore. I only see "MTP Device". I am thinking of going back to older version of iTunes. The iPhone connects to my wife's laptop, which has older version. Any suggestions?
