anonymous start up

When I woke up my MacBook pro this morning, (14" M3 Sequoia) instead of a log in option, I got a generic Sequoia screen. About this Mac worked but nothing else was apparent. Things returned to normal with a restart. Very strange and a little worrisome.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.

2015 MacBook Pro with Monterey’s latest update - start up screen altered In the last hour I turned on my MacBook Pro (2015) and had an icon I did not set up myself. Ever since purchasing it in mid 2016, the only image that has displayed has been one I set up. I am the only person with physical access to the device. Should I assume I have been hacked? Did AI do something to my settings I did not actively initiate myself? Please advise…

Scam on Mac Book start up? just restarted MacBook and got a screen I’ve never seen before asking me to select my wi-fi network and provide the password. When I attempt to get beyond this without choosing a network or entering a password, the screen switches to what appears to be the Apple start up screen with white progress bar and logo, but never boots up, instead pop up message appears: ‘A critical software update is required for your Mac, but am error was encountered while installing this update. Your Mac can’t be used until this update is installed.’ Is this legit?

Occasionally any computer can do something odd, either due to a software glitch (perhaps some process running in the background overnight or an update that required a restart that went strange), a static charge or power surge, etc. I'd say that unless the problem happens again not to worry about it. Though of course you should be making regular backups, always a wise precaution in any case.
