How to get Mac to recognize ipod nano 7th gen

I found a 7th gen nano and decided to go ahead and clear the old music off of it, so I reset it from my mac as it was named someone else's, before that point I was able to go in and view the storage, settings, music, etc. But now after its been reset that tab no longer shows as an option just the iPod that's it. It is also not showing in apple music.
