I have loaded recordings I have made into Music in my Mac and have created play lists. Neither are appearing on my phone. Music is signed into iTunes, I have been making purchases.
I have seen instructions to tick sync under Music/settings/general but there is no such sync button to click.
The new purchases I have made have appeared but not the play list or uploaded music.

Have you subscribed to Apple Music? If not you can’t sync to the iCloud. See Sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod using your computer – Apple Support (UK)

Thanks for responding. No I don’t subscribe to Apple Music. I subscribe to Spotify.
Does this make any difference?

See link shown in my reply. You can sync to to iPhone, iPad or iPad using USB or WiFi but not iCloud.
