plugging iphone with usb-c into a usb-AorB

I've been told by Verizon when I purchased iPhone 16 that the iPhone 16 should not be plugged into an outlet that is USB A or B because it burns the port out, and I shouldn't use an USB A or B adapter either. Since my wife has an iPhone 15 where the port does not work at all and my iPad 9" does charge with the 20W mid-size adapter that comes with it I am worried about where I can safely plug the dang thing in when I don't have the power adapter. I use a more expensive Apple power adapter and it appears to recharge. Problem my vehicle only has USB A or B, which limits its use when I travel. Google Maps or the Apple maps such battery power from it. I have not found a 70W converter that can go in -between the USB-B in my vehicle and USB-C that the iPhone or iPad needs. Suggestions, out of luck when I travel? thanks.
