No Device Found is an indication that Find My was not enabled on the iPhone, so it will not be possible to access any of the settings on the iPhone to erase the data on the phone.

Fortunately, the data on the phone is protected by the passcode.

As a precaution, you should notify your carrier and ask them to "blacklist" the phone so it cannot be used with the carrier or any other carrier.

Change your Apple ID Password as well.

Watch out for scam messages from "Apple" or "Apple Support" that claim that your phone has been found and you just need to provide some additional information so the phone can be returned to you.

Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen phones, so you know that any messages like this that you might receive are scams. Do not respond to any messages like this.

What is the message that appears when you try to locate the phone?

No device found? This would indicate that Find My was not enabled on the phone

Offline? This would indicate that one or more of the following conditions exist:

  • The battery has run down
  • The phone was powered off (some models)
  • The phone does not have an Internet connection where it is currently located

Thieves are also very fond of placing a stolen phone in special type of small bag that will not allow the phone to either send or receive a signal, so that may be a factor here as well.

Unfortunately, there is not really anything that you can do about these things, except keep checking a few times each day to see if the status of the phone has changed

Find My is the only way that the phone can be located online by a user. Your carrier can probably locate the phone, but they will usually only do this in cases of missing persons or other similar emergencies. A court order is normally required.

As long as the phone had a passcode requirement, there is no way that anyone could ever guess the correct passcode in less than 10 tries before the phone locks out completely and will not even allow any more passcode attempts.
