I have a brand new mac stuidio M2 and my monitor only works if I plug in a second monitor that does not belong to me. If I unplug the borrowed monitor, my original monitor comes up with invalid format.
How do I fix this?

what connection method you are using, and
whether any adapters or hubs are in use, or
how long are the cables?
