Mac mini and Macbook Pro display resolution options different on same monitor

I have an ASUS VP28U monitor connected to my mac mini M4 and my macbook pro m1. I noticed that the available resolution is different between the two.

On my macbook pro (sonoma) it has more options such as 3008x1692, while on the mac mini (sequoia) i only have 2560x1440 and then jump to full 4K. Both of these are connected using HDMI.

I did try swapping the two hdmi cables (e.g. unplug hdmi from macbook and plug into mac mini) and there's no change.

Want to see why that's the case. My two monitors somehow can't get to the same 3008x1692 resolution.

Mac mini, macOS 15.1
