New computer but all movies imported into Apple TV come in as "Home Movie?"

My laptop died and with it died my old setup. Now I have to reimport all my movies and tv shows. But they all come in as Home Movie. If I try to select multiple files and edit them together, I get an error saying the files are different types. They're not.

How do I imports all my stuff without having to edit each and every file?

Mac mini, macOS 15.1

The TV app on Mac treats imported video files (not being iTunes Store purchases) as ‘Home Video’, unless they are tagged differently. So each of those untagged videos will need to be tagged as ‘Movie’ or ‘TV Show’ before import (when using external tools), or be re-tagged individually and manually inside the TV app.

I don’t have a recommendation tool for batch tagging video files (never needed to), but go do a search for that.

You can also minimize the work, by excluding files that you don’t need in the coming months. Does the “meh” video that you have already seen, have to be in the TV app’s library per se? Super large libraries can only slow down the app.
