External SSD will not eject since MacOS v15

The error message is "Failed to unmount (disk name) because it is currently in use." This is a new problem since I updated the OS.

This is not the case with all external SSDs. My SanDisks and WD SSDs eject as expected. The only problem is with my Sabrent high-speed SSD.

My current workaround is to Force Eject, but that makes me nervous!

Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

Thanks!

There have been a couple of reports of problems with Spotlight reindexing after upgrading to Sequoia. Maybe Spotlight is indexing the disc.

In Terminal try sudo lsof /Volumes/yourDriveName which will tell you which apps are using the disc.

You could always get an app like "What's Keeping Me" which might tell you what apps are using the disc, although it's likely to be Finder or spotlight.
