Downgrade from iPad OS 18 on an iPad 9th generation

My wife has an iPad 9th generation and since upgrading to iPad OS 18, it runs slowly and glitchy. Is there a way of downgrading to iPad OS 17? If so, please provide detailed instructions.

Not possible to downgrade.

You can, try restarting the iPad and see if that fixes the issues, or restoring it so it refreshes iOS 18 completely, but there is no way to go back to a previous version.

It will not change the installed version, but will refresh all files and may alleviate the lagging and glitching.
