Apple TV Dedicated Camera

So what I have is a Dedicated Continuity Camera configured for my Apple account, same as my Apple TV. Seems to work fine, but when I try to transfer a call from my iPhone, that I physically carry and hold in my hand, to the Apple TV, it doesn’t switch to the dedicated camera and wants to just keep using my iPhone’s camera. Suggesting I mount my iPhone, which seems to defeat the purpose of having the dedicated camera.

is that expected? Or am I doing something wrong?

You’ll have to ask that to Apple staff, for a definitive answer.

I think what you are trying to do isn’t supported that way.

At this time, your iPhone (or iPad) is the only supported continuity camera for Apple TV FaceTime video calling (or compatible video conferencing apps).

Yes a different iPhone, as explained on that page you linked. I’m getting he impression that my expectation of switching to what is in my mind the Apple TV’s camera when moving a FaceTime call, then doesn’t work. What I wanted to have was the same functionality as when I move a call between an iPhone and an iPad, and it switches to that device’s camera, not just moves the video and continues to use the same camera.

Is that not a thing that it does? Placing a call on the Apple TV to begin with isn’t as straightforward, and accepting a call there only works if I’m actively sitting in front of it and it’s on already, so if I can’t transfer a call, then that’s not as useful for me as I was hoping.
