This copy of the Install macOS Monterey application is damaged, and can‘t be used to install macOS.

I currently run a Mac Book Pro 15` from late 2016 with BigSur and every time I try to upgrade it to Monterey it gives me the following message: This copy of the Install macOS Monterey application is damaged, and can‘t be used to install macOS. I've got no antivirus, switched off the firewall and no malware. What gives? I've also redownloaded the file many times with the same results.

Try again while in Safe Mode.

Well, thank you all but after trying everything including safe mode unsuccessfully, I finally resorted to formatting the disk in recovery mode, reinstalling BigSur from the OS disk partition and finally updating it to Monterey without any problems. Very time consuming especially when all my datas and files had to be downloaded from cloud. Thank goodness for fast broadband! I still have no idea what could have prevented my MacBook from upgrading before…
