delete key while typing often deletes the entire object

Hi!

When typing text in the inspector or when typing subtitles, I often use the DELETE key to correct mistakes. However, in Final Cut Pro this often just deletes the object I'm working on and have to undo to fix this. As this happens multiple times during my work, it gets frustrating. When I'm typing, the element is focused on my cursor; not on manipulation of the object itself.

Can I change this behavior somehow?

Thanks!

It looks like something is causing the focus to switch from text to the object, perhaps subtly, somehow.

I have not experienced this, and I have not seen this problem reported here.

You can try deleting the preferences, since corrupted preferences can cause all sorts of weirdness. Maybe it will help.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting the application and click Delete Custom Settings. The application will start with default settings and open an "Untitled" library. Adjust the settings, reopen the library you were working, and see how it works now.

Thank you Luis! The thing is, I just installed FCP on a clean Mac Mini M3 Pro, and have the same issue on my Macbook Pro (also new). So it seems to be a standard issue on my end. But it's good to hear you aren't seeing this problem.

It's 100% reproducible on my end. The moment I press DELETE regardless of which text field I'm in, the object is removed rather than deleting the text character by character.
