Does the AirPods pro 2 accommodations transparency mode have the same amplification as the IOS 18.1 AirPods released in the US but not in Canada?

I have been using my AirPods Pro 2 (APP 2) for a year with the transparency set to the maximum to allow the APP 2 to act as hearing aids. This works well in some cases.

They are not hearing aids but better than my natural ears.

My question (to US users) and Canadians and Apple is: once (and if) the Hearing Aid release in IOS 18.1 is available in Canada will the amplification be higher or the same?

Thanks for your insight.

Hi barry,

Apologies that we may not have the expertise and info. to answer your queries, yet your post deserves some reply, and if others do have the "know-how" on amplification, they may join the discussion.

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, so Apple is not here to reply.

Your questions may best be answered by Apple's experts, or possibly, a hearing professional.

We can share Apple's documentation for AirPods 2 - Technical Specifications - Apple Support

This doesn't, however, mention / differentiate / amplification levels.

Apart from the three new hearing health features, :

Eg: Just says you can: "Amplify soft sounds and adjust certain frequencies for your hearing needs with Headphone Accommodations" ...

Seems the new features are for those who test as having "mild to moderate hearing loss".

With iOS 18.1, new hearing-aid features became available in those countries where authorities similar to the TGA in USA have already given approval.

Eg: The article below says: "Some Hearing Health features are not currently available in every region".

"The Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features are regulated health features that require approval and will be offered after authorization is received."

AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple lists availability of three separate features.

Use the Hearing Aid feature on your AirPods Pro 2 - Apple Support

Thank you kindly for taking the time to reply, and to express your appreciation, Barry!

Am grateful for your response ... Yes, seems many are still eagerly waiting to find out whether they can make full use of the new AirPods Pro 2 features in their countries.

(Seems the situation is a good "lesson" in practising patience!)
