How to change default mirror display settings

I use a MacBook Pro (M3 Max) while teaching a high school choir, connecting it via HDMI to a large 60" screen (Clear Touch Panel) to mirror for the students to view.

I disconnect from the other display several times a day, and every single time I reconnect (or waken after it or my Mac goes to sleep), I have to change the display settings - 'Optimize for' and text size - to what we need (see image below) which is rather obnoxious.

Is there a way to set and save these settings to be the default behavior when connecting to a secondary display?

It should be automatic... I use several different displays with my MBP, and it remembers that, for example, my home desk display is to the left, and that a projector I use in one class is set to mirror the Mac screen.

I'd try restarting in Safe Mode, then restarting normally, and see if it now remembers your settings correctly.

Are you using any form of "cleaner" or "antivirus"? These may mess with normal operations and cause trouble.
