hp office jet won't print from MacBook Air

using the usb attachment with the usb to c and plugged into my MacBook Air 15" can't print. The MacBook is showing that the printer is a laser jet and it's a inkjet.

Getting a Printer to Print:

A. Try Wireless:

So, what about the wireless? Does that work? Does it see it as a different technology (laser jet)?

B. Get the Drivers from HP:

Get the Drivers from the manufacturer (HP), and no where else. Elesewise, you may end up with misconfigurations of sorts.

There are various similar models:

  • HP OfficeJet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series - G510
  • HP OfficeJet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series - G510a
  • HP OfficeJet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series - G510n
  • HP OfficeJet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series - K7

There may be some other model variations.

Which do you have?

Some of these have wireless and/or wireless connections, which would be the preferable way to access the printer.

Does this printer have Wi-Fi or Ethernet wired connections?

Based on the manuals for the series, whichever one you have here seems to be somewhere around fifteen years old and maybe older too, so well before AirPrint.
